Under the supervision of the Cottage Supervisor, provides child care and assists in providing guidance to emotionally impaired children to promote proper physical and mental growth and a healthy atmosphere. This position may assist in providing direction to new employees.
This shift is generally scheduled for the following days and times:
Friday 3:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Saturday 1:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Sunday 1:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
This position is part-time on weekends and falls under the requirements of the collective bargaining agreement. One of these requirements is mandatory overtime. This means that required union employees have the responsibility of fulfilling the mandatory on-call shifts, which are assigned based on union membership seniority.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interacts with children to provide care, establish and maintain a therapeutic adult/child relationship, and to provide a structured environment.
Documents specific behaviors of individual children and groups daily.
Supervises the children during various activities.
Plans and participates in therapeutic activities that encourage the development of self-esteem and inter-personal relationships.
Intervenes during crisis/conflict situationsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
